Description
The builders and owners of the Brukna manor until 1920 were an old family of German aristocrats - the Korfi barons. They owned several manors in Zemgale and Kurzeme, including Skaistkalne (Šenberg) manor.
The ensemble of the Brukna manor was built in the middle of the 18th century, but the current form of the manor is a reconstruction in the neoclassical style, which was carried out in the 19th century. The Brukna manor clearly fits into the peaceful landscape of Zemgale. The construction volume of the house has not changed - only the interior and the park area. No historical interior was preserved in the historical building of the first half of the 19th century. Andrejs Mediņš, "the godfather" of the Brukna manor, after consulting with the leading specialists of Latvia, chose an alternative solution - it was decided not to strive for authenticity, but to use a creative approach. Every public interior of Brukna Manor is designed by volunteer assistants - art students and other enthusiasts. They are young artists and like-minded groups from Latgale, Kurzeme, Rīga. So, for example, the classical equipment of the Brukna manor library was made by the diploma students of the Riga Art&Media technical school, but the ceiling of the Egyptian Hall was painted by the young artists of Rēzekne.
The special highlights of the garden are the sculptures made by the young sculptor Sandis Aišpuris, which are placed around the newly built church. It is a popular gathering place for artists.
NB! Animals are not allowed in the area!
