On 31 October, the exhibition “The Allure of Flowers” at Rundāle Palace Museum will be open for the final day. We invite you to take this opportunity to join the exhibition’s final guided tour at 12.00.
This time, the focus will be on the silent companions of flowers – vases, which in the 18th century were not only the setting for magnificent floral arrangements but also a significant element of interior decoration. Their expressive forms, colours and ornamentation lent the rooms a special air of luxury and character.
Dzintra Miķelsone, an expert curator of the museum’s collection, and historian Gundega Plūduma will reveal the diversity of vases and their secrets. We will find out which vessels were intended for small flowers and tulips, how hyacinths were made to bloom in vases, and what exactly the mysterious ‘flower girls’ and potpourri vases – which were not intended for cut flowers – are.
Don’t miss this last chance to visit the exhibition and discover part of its story.
