On August 14 of this year, from 10:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., at the “Mazie Mežgaļi” recreation and event venue in Brunava Parish, Bauska Municipality, a special summer event will take place—“The Gates of Heavenly Bliss”—where everyone is invited to experience communal singing, sound meditation, and a shower of stars in the setting of an ancient park and apple orchard. A summer night, the light of a bonfire, and the presence of century-old trees will create a special atmosphere where nature and music will merge into a single experience.
The aim of the event is to create a space where people can meet without rushing, let themselves be carried away by song, enjoy the summer night, and feel the power of togetherness. The evening’s musical journey will be led by Madara Keivomege, a singer of Latvian power songs and sound therapist; Janeks Maļinovskis, a master of unconventional instruments—the didgeridoo, jambu, and healing singing bowl player Janeks Maļinovskis, as well as Latgalian folk singer Evija Maļkeviča-Grundele.
“In today’s fast-paced daily life, we increasingly long for simple, genuine moments of connection. ‘The Gates of Heavenly Happiness’ is an opportunity to set aside our daily worries for a few hours, sing together, gaze at the stars, and simply be. We believe that such gatherings strengthen both individuals and communities,” say the event organizers.
Throughout the evening, uplifting songs and folk songs will be performed, and everyone is welcome to join in—regardless of musical experience. To make the sing-along accessible to everyone, an electronic songbook will be provided.
The organizers invite attendees to bring a blanket or mat, and, if they wish, their own musical instrument.
A small treat to share at the communal table is also appreciated. The gathering is scheduled for 9:00 p.m., while the event begins at 10:00 p.m. Participation in the event is by donation. Those interested will also have the opportunity to stay overnight at “Mazie Mežgaļi.”
“Mazie Mežgaļi” is a multifunctional recreation and event venue in Brunava Parish, Bauska Municipality, established in the former Mežgaļi Elementary School building complex.
