10. July, 2026

from 19:00 till 21:00 Free

On July 10 at 7:00 p.m., visitors are invited to the “Mid-Summer” event at the Vilis Plūdonis Museum.

The exhibition in the restored “Lejenieki” sauna—which features a layout typical of black saunas in Zemgale—will be unveiled.

Sauna master Santa Matveja will speak about Latvian sauna traditions and the use of wild plants in the sauna today.

The evening at the “Lejenieki” farmstead will continue in a poetic and musical atmosphere, featuring excerpts from poet Vilis Plūdonis’s poetry about the beauty of nature in summer.

Event attendees will be treated to a rich folklore program: a medley of summer songs and dances will be performed by groups from Lithuania—the folklore ensemble “Verpeta” from the town of Kaišadorys and “Siaudela” from Biržai—as well as Latvian folklore groups—“Vilcenes” “Ķerbele,” “Svitene,” “Dreņģeri,” “Tīrums,” and “Laukam pāri.”
