The ensemble “Šviesotamsa” introduces the figure of 17th-century poet Maciej Kazimierz Sarbiewski, who is considered one of the most notable European poets writing in Latin. He was born in Poland in 1595, but his life was closely tied to Vilnius and Lithuania. In this concert program, the poet’s works are combined with music from his era, reflecting three periods of his life: in Vilnius, at the court of the Vasa dynasty, and in Rome.
Presented by the early music ensemble “Šviesotamsa” (Lithuania, Latvia):
- Rūta Vox (Vosyliūtė) – soprano
- Laura Šarova, Marianna Puriņa – Baroque violins
- Vilimas Norkūnas – organ
Admission to the concert is free.
Organized by the Concerto Riga Association, with primary support from the State Culture Capital Foundation and Bauska Castle.
