27. September, 2025
The annual exhibition of the Latvian Winegrowers and Winemakers Association will take place at Bauska Castle.
On 27th of September, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., the annual exhibition "Baltic Grapes 2025" will take place in the courtyard of Bauska Castle's Livonian Order Castle, where visitors will have the opportunity to see grapes grown in various locations in Latvia and Lithuania, as well as talk to winegrowers to learn more about grape varieties, their cultivation and care.
According to grape growers, this year's grape harvest is about a month later than usual, so several grape varieties have not yet accumulated enough sugar. Grape growers are hoping for a warm and long autumn so that the berries can ripen.
At 12:00 p.m., a seminar led by Jānis Kaļķis, president of the Latvian Wine Association, will take place, where visitors can gain theoretical knowledge about various combinations of Latvian wines and foods.
At 1:00 p.m., writer Aija Piļka will present her latest book, which is dedicated to the outstanding Latvian grape, rose, watermelon and melon breeder Pauls Sukatnieks – about his life and work.
Admission to the event is by donation.
