“THE FLUTE OF FELICITY” – outdoor concert performance and play of lights in Brukna, August 16 at 21.30

“THE FLUTE OF FELICITY” will be the secon outdoor performance in the concert series "Time. You. Prayer.” The creative team invites the audience to a reunion in the ‘cathedral of nature’ in Brukna under the summer starry sky. This time the programme is based on the theme of man's inner struggle to find the Truth throughout his life.
The concert programme will include church chants and prayers in Spanish, Greek, Armenian, Church Slavonic and Latvian from different centuries and traditions. The chants will be interspersed with instrumental sound paintings. The concert performance will be performed by singer Aleksandra ŠPICBERGA and the MALE VOCAL GROUP, flautist Andis KLUČNIEKS, guitarist Vladimirs KUDRINS, percussionist Elvijs ENDELIS, boys' vocal group "PUIKAS" and the United Children’s Choir of Latvian music schools and vocational education institutions.
This time the flute is the main star! Indeed – not everything within the human soul can be expressed in words! This time, the flutes and pipes are allowed to sing what lies in its very depths, in the performance of the outstanding flautist, multi-instrumentalist Andis Klučnieks.
The play of lights and sound concept of the outdoor concert performance is created by lighting director Ivars VĀCERS and sound director Andris ŪZE. Costume designer – Aljona MYALIK. Director and producer – Māra ŠPICBERGA.
The concert programme will also include several surprises – little known in Latvia opuses from Latin America, Spain and Africa. For example, Credo from Mesa Flamenca – a piece that has never been written down and in which the musicians indulge in improvisation. The great musicians Vladimirs Kudrins and Elvis Endelis will help to conjure up the colour and temperament of the South. Alongside the voices of men, the sound of children voices will also be present.
LIGHT will be the listener's companion and at the same time the point of reference in this emotional exposure of the spirit, allowing to be involved in the moments of co-experience, memories and new revelations.
"Our goal is to search and find common denominators – the uniting substance. That which speaks to and strengthens people all over the world, regardless of nationality, gender, age, because more than anything, the world today needs people who are strong in spirit and united", says Māra Špicberga, the programme's director and producer.
