From 14 to 16 February, the XXVI International Festival of Masquerade Traditions will take place in Bauska, offering a wide, varied and interesting programme. A mask-making workshop, mask dances and mask performances in Bauska, mask processions in households in Iecava, Stelpe, Svitene and Ceraukste, a gathering of mask groups, mask dances and individual mask shows in Īslice, a mask procession, a meteor healing and the closing of the festival in Vecumnieki - that's how packed the three days of the festival promise to be.
Programme
Saturday, 15 February:
12.00-14.00 Mask parades in the farmsteads of Iecava, Stelpe, Svitene, Vecumnieki and Ceraukste
15.00-17.00 Conference on mask traditions at the Bauska Culture Centre
18.00-19.30 Performances of masked characters in Bauska Town Square
20.00 Meeting of mask groups, dancing in Īslīce Culture House
22.00 Individual mask show at the Īslīce Culture House
Sunday 16 February:
10.30-11.30 Conference on mask traditions at Vecumnieki Folk House
12.00- 12.30 Mask parades in Vecumnieki
12.30-15.00 Shrovetide healing and closing of the festival in Vecumnieki
