Since 2000, Latvia and Lithuania have been celebrating the Day of Baltic Unity, when the unifying traditions of the Baltic people are honored by inviting experts in folk music, folklore and ancient crafts.

This year, on 22 of September, in the Bauska region, the cultural space "Mežotne Church" and the surroundings of Mežotne Hillford, surrounded by ancient tales and historical stories, were chosen as the venue for the White Unit Day. The event will start at 18.00. The interaction and celebration of all four elements of nature - fire, water, earth, air - will herald the strength of Zemgale and the unity of white peoples.
On the day of the White Unity, a rich "autumn table" will be laid in the Mežotne church in the style of ancient traditions, prepared by Solveiga Ikerte, owner of the entrepreneur "Baltās mājas". Friends from Lithuania will come to the village with a concert program, the free-will ensemble "Strong Wives" will perform, a dance evening, a joint bonfire, fireworks and a ceremonial raising of the Zemgale flag are planned.

On the evening of 22nd of September, the residents of Lithuania and Latvia will traditionally meet in Skaistkalne on the bridge over the river Mēmele to celebrate the Day of Baltic Unity. This time, after the solemn meeting, a bonfire will be lit on the bridge on the Lithuanian side - in Germaniški.

Bārbeles folklore group "Tīrums" invites you to the Baltic Unit Day event at the Zvirgzde dune.

One of the main rituals of the celebrated day, both in Latvia and in the neighboring country of Lithuania, are the day bonfires of the Baltu unit, which are lit together with the sunset by the sea, in mountains, mounds and other connected places. with Baltic history. The day fire of the Balt unit is lit for the heroic Balt tribes who united in the fight against the Crusader troops. In ancient times, bonfires lit on mountain tops have called our ancestors to unite to fight and protect their land, their life and their uniqueness. Unity has helped the peoples living on the coast of the Baltic Sea to survive and exist for thousands of years.

Let's be strong and united!
