A poem about love and the sea – a delicate sound journey in French and Belgian chamber music springs to its zenith in Rundāle Castle.

Classical music guild "Euterpe" and Rundāle Castle on September 8 at 18.00 invites you to a subtle and retrospective sound travel concert "Poem about love and the sea", indulging in a musical adventure, starting from 20th century French and Belgian chamber music to post-romanticism.

The concert features soprano Anta Jankovska, flautist Reinis Lapa, cellist Ivars Bezprozvanovs and harpist Dārta Tisenkopfa-Muselli.

The program will feature the French composer Marc Bertomieu's "Cinq Nuances" for flute and harp, Henri Duparque's "Sad Song" ("Chanson triste") Op. 2 no. 4 for soprano and harp and “Deux pièces en trio” by the Belgian composer Jozef Jongen, Op. 80, for flute, cello and harp. Likewise, the vocal cycle "Poème de l'amour et de la mer" by the French impressionist Ernest Chausson ("Poème de l'amour et de la mer"), Op. 19, in an arrangement by Marina Vidmonte created especially for this player.

For the first time in Latvia, this cycle was performed in the same composition already on August 15 in Durbes church as part of the South Kurzeme festival "Rimbenieks".

"Poem on love and the sea", which has not yet been heard in Latvia, is one of E. Chausson's most famous and beautiful vocal-instrumental compositions, dedicated to his friend, the French composer Henri Dupark. It was created over a very long period of time and is based on six poems by Maurice Bushore, which tells about a romantic love story of one summer on the seashore. Composer E. Chausson's music, with his characteristic impressionistic subtlety and at the same time full-bodied post-romantic color palette, illustrates the love that is born in early summer, during the blooming of lilacs, and dies in autumn with the yellowing and withering leaves of trees.

Tickets for the concerts are available at the ticket offices of "Biļešu paradīze". Discounted tickets are available for pensioners, students and persons with disabilities.
