The LUDUS Early Music Ensemble celebrated its 35th anniversary with a concert in Riga. The concert in Bauska Castle is like a continuation, besides, the original activity of the ensemble is inextricably connected with Bauska Castle and the charming atmosphere at ancient music festivals there.

The repertoire of the early music ensemble LUDUS dominates the compositions of the late Renaissance and early Baroque period, which the musicians play on replicas of authentic instruments, in a manner and costumes appropriate to the era. The instruments are recorders of various sizes, viola da'gamba, lute, baroque guitar, arch lute, fiddle, violin, percussion instruments. The ensemble was founded in November 1988. Currently, the core composition of instrumentalists in the ensemble has been stabilized for a long time. At the concert, the artistic director of the ensemble, violinist Māra Birziņa, recorder Dagnija Tuča, lute player Sergejs Sjomins and viola da gamba will be played by Lauma Liepiņa, Romāns Trautmanis and Ainārs Paukšēns.
