On 1st of June, spend a leisurely afternoon in the French garden of the Rundāle Palace Museum to feel the magic of the garden with all five senses when spring is replaced by summer!
In the rush of everyday work and work, we often forget to stop by a brightly blooming plant and inhale its scent, or listen to the sounds of the surroundings and enjoy the peace of a garden. Therefore, we want to remind you how important it is not only to think and move, but also to feel.
"A date in the garden" is first of all an invitation to a meeting full of respect and joy - with living nature, with yourself and also with other people. However, the program also includes several special activities for both children and adults. They will take place from 12.00 to 15.00 mainly in the Golden Vase bosket, where a small cafe is open for visitors in the summer.
It will be possible to experience and get to know the Rundāle Castle garden better by playing both an orientation game and various educational games for the senses and performing other activities in which we will invite you to notice and very carefully observe plants, insects and other living creatures, among which there is no shortage of rare ones. Let's encourage attention to typical French garden elements, thereby increasing awareness of garden culture. We will invite you to feel different types of coverings with your bare feet in the "Trail of Senses", to guess what natural thing you have grabbed by touching but not seeing, to recognize the voices of birds while playing "Bird Bingo", to determine the ingredients of historical potpourri mixtures by smell and appearance, to distinguish favorites and also lesser known herbs.
