Kirjeldus
The Roman Catholic Church of St. John the Baptist in Brunava was built in 1773 under the leadership of Colonel Brunava's wife Margarita. From 1897 to 1900, under the leadership of Provost Kazimirs Jasens, the churches in Tukums and Jelgava were renovated, rebuilt, expanded, and two approximately 15-meter-high towers were added. Until its incorporation into the Diocese of Riga in 1920, Brunava (then Brunoviški) belonged to the Deanery of Panevėžys.
In 1976, the exterior of the church was clad with boards and painted yellow. In front of it is a small porch with entrance doors on all three sides.
In 2016, the facade of Brunava Church and the facade of the bell tower were renovated, retaining the previous dark brown color.
The church has 18th-century altars, which are art monuments of national importance, as well chandeliers made at the end of the 18th century, containing 18 candles.
The parish is part of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Jelgava in the Archdiocese of Riga. Holy Mass is celebrated on Sundays at 9:00 a.m., on holidays, and sometimes on weekdays.
